NEXTCHEM - Lazzerini
Milano Design Week / Exhibitors / NEXTCHEM – Lazzerini
NEXTCHEM and MyReplast Industries, in collaboration with Lazzerini, present a new approach to post-consumer and post-industrial plastics – materials too often treated as waste to be managed rather than as resources to be re-engineered. The partners have developed a project aimed at transforming plastic waste into durable, application-driven solutions such as the upcycled seat for public transport presented at The New State of Materials.
The process begins with post-consumer plastic regenerated through NEXTCHEM’s NX Replast technology, designed to overcome the limitations of conventional recycling. Through advanced chemical processes, the material is purified and re-engineered into a high-quality secondary raw material, tailored to meet the technical and design requirements of advanced applications. At this stage, MyReplast Industries plays a key role, transforming the regenerated feedstock into a technical polymer granule with properties comparable to virgin materials, engineered for strength, durability, and aesthetic performance.
Finally, through Lazzerini’s design and engineering expertise, the material is translated into a finished product. The granule is processed into a seating element that meets the ergonomic, structural, and safety requirements of the transport sector. The result is a product entirely derived from recycled plastic, designed for long-term use—demonstrating how circularity can be embedded into both material development and everyday applications.
