Lithic Flow Divider
Milano Design Week / Exhibitors / Lithic Flow Divider
Dutch-based Polymaker, in partnership with the Italian robotic advanced manufacturing technology provider Caracol AM, also developed Lithic Flow Divider for The New State of Materials, a large-scale architectural installation produced through robotic additive manufacturing. Designed by Massimiliano Boz and Giacomo Tomesani, the free standing element demonstrates how robotic extrusion can merge structural performance with spatial articulation. Printed in PolyCore™ PETG-1113 Marble on Caracol’s Heron AM platform, the project features a stone-like surface that bridges digital fabrication and natural aesthetics. Its porous, rhythmic pattern defines space while allowing light to pass through. The form originates from a generative process in Cinema 4D, where a surface behaves like fluid and interacts with moving solids. The final geometry captures a frozen moment of simulated flow, translated into a full-scale physical object.
