Milan Design Week 2026

The New State of Materials

The New State of Materials is the theme of the exhibition and event curated by Materially for the upcoming Milan Design Week 2026 — an opportunity to take stock of the latest innovations in materials for product and architectural design.

Which directions is material innovation taking? What progress has been made across different material fields? And how is it contributing to addressing today’s environmental challenges?

Materially’s main exhibition will take place at Stecca3, in the heart of the Isola district, exploring the evolving role and potential of materials in design processes.

In the heart of
Isola district

Stecca3 is a symbolic building in Milan’s Isola district, designed by Stefano Boeri Architetti as a civic and cultural space open to the community.

During Milan Design Week, it will become one of the key hubs of the Isola Design District, hosting exhibitions and events centered on innovation and design.

Within this context, Materially will present a curated selection of ten leading players in material research and production, together with start-ups, research institutes, and experimental projects that — alongside industry — are redefining the frontiers of material innovation.

Not only at Stecca3

As part of a strategic partnership with Designtech and Isola Design, Materially takes on a central role as materials curator for the entire Isola Design Festival 2026 ecosystem — supporting both Italian and international design.

Specifically, Materially will involve a range of materials manufacturers in the exhibition design of multiple venues across the district, creating installations that intertwine creativity, technology, and sustainability.

At Designtech’s headquarters – CoFactory in Certosa, talks, panels, and presentations will foster dialogue among companies, designers, and researchers on innovation and sustainable manufacturing — with active contributions from Materially’s team.

How to participate

After more than ten editions at Milan Design Week, and in this new year of synergy and evolution, Materially offers multiple opportunities for participation and visibility to its partner companies.

Businesses and start-ups can take part according to their size, research and development focus, and mission — through technical partnerships, curated exhibitions, or collaborative projects that showcase the performance and potential of their materials.

Materially also encourages partnerships and initiatives that can generate long-term value within specific districts and buildings.
