Materially 2026: new spaces, new trajectories in materials
With the new year and the relocation into our new headquarters, Materially enters a phase of evolution: a transition that strengthens our material-driven approach and expands opportunities for research, experimentation, and dialogue with organizations active in the fields of material, technological and process innovation, as well as sustainability.
New headquarters: an ecosystem of material and technological solutions
Since October, Materially has moved its activities and materials library to Designtech, an ecosystem dedicated to advanced experimentation, where we have found next-generation material solutions and technologies that directly support our research and development activities. Here, skills related to additive manufacturing, robotics, advanced textiles, and the application of materials in the built environment coexist. From 3D printing for design and industry, including large-format applications made possible by robotic systems, to digital textile technologies and high-performance architectural solutions, Designtech represents a context in which materials, processes, and applications engage in continuous dialogue. An environment that concretely reflects the evolution of contemporary materials and their impact on design, architecture, and industry.
Events of 2026
2026 will be marked by a structured calendar of events and activities. The Innovation Days – a series of thematic B2B events that foster interaction among companies, designers, and stakeholders from different sectors – will continue, creating opportunities for discussion and development of new collaborations.
We have also consolidated partnerships with industrial sectors in which materials and their sustainability are central to the project. Among the events already confirmed:
- February 2nd – MIDO (Fiera Milano Rho) Materially will take part in the international eyewear trade fair with a talk dedicated to material innovation for sustainability in the sector, within the conference “Designing the future of eyewear: ecodesign between choices, materials and sustainable processes.”
- May 19–21 – Packaging Première (Allianz MiCo) Materially will once again be involved in the event: in addition to the usual exhibition of materials from the library of Material ConneXion, Anna Pellizzari, Head of Advisory, will be part of the jury for the Avant-Garde Award, in the section dedicated to innovative material solutions for packaging.
Milan Design Week 2026
In April, on the occasion of Milano Design Week, Materially will take part in the initiatives of the Isola Design Festival, between the Isola and Certosa districts. In this context, it will present its main exhibition The New State of Materials, hosted at Stecca3, designed by Stefano Boeri.
The exhibition is a moment of reflection and update on the most recent innovations in the field of materials, through a selection of players and startups that are making a significant contribution in redefining the emerging landscape of design and architecture, spanning research, experimentation, and new applications.
European projects
In the context of our collaborative projects, the focus for 2026 will be on enhancing young people’s skills and transferring knowledge of sustainable textile production.
We are part of the Erasmus+ UP2NEB project, which aims to bring young Europeans closer to the vision of the New European Bauhaus, the European Commission’s initiative aimed at establishing sustainability, aesthetics, and inclusion as value pillars for the transformation of society and the built environment (find more details here). In May, Materially will host a group of young participants from across Europe on the occasion of the third UP2NEB mobility. During summer, IN4SUSTAIN’s Mini-Accelerator will be launched: a short training programme offered to managers and operators in the textile and fashion industry to explore innovative training tools and test their competencies regarding sustainability and circularity in garment production.
We’re looking forward to see you!
