The business focuses on the production of high-tech polymeric materials, such as polycarbonates, polyurethanes, paints, adhesives and the development of innovative and sustainable solutions for products used in many areas of everyday life. In doing so, Covestro is fully committed to the circular economy. The main industries served are the automotive and transport industries, construction, furniture and wood processing, as well as the electrical, electronics and household appliances industries. Other sectors include sport and leisure, cosmetics, health and the chemical industry itself. At the end of 2020, Covestro has 33 production sites around the world and employees approximately 16,500 people. In Italy, the head quarter and the polycarbonate plant are located in Filago (BG), where about 240 people are employed. In addition, within the chemical site, which is also owned by Covestro, there is the Color & Design Center, where customized colors and concrete solutions are developed to make the best use of the polycarbonate's visual, tactile, functional and aesthetic properties.
